Another Flaw in the System: NFL Doesn't Pay Taxes

"Despite the fact that it is a $9Billion/Year industry, the National Football League (NFL) continues to enjoy status as a non-profit organization -- meaning it doesn’t have to pay federal corporate taxes."

It isn't enough the federal government is currently shut down with over 800,000 people furloughed and 1.3 million working without pay while members of Congress continue to collect their undeserved salaries for NOT doing their jobs.

Really?
So any extra money goes back to the owners? The owners would pay tax on that money then right? Well at least on the money left over after paying willing cheerleaders or whatever right? Ok I'm distracting myself by bringing up cheerleaders. Scratch that thought. So is this like an industry group? The AMA type of thing but different because it promotes pain instead healing. Does the AMA or these other associations ABA, AA, etc. pay taxes? You might be on to something here. Maybe this is just one example of a mess of loopholes.

I signed. Didn't know about this, but happy to see that MLB and the NBA do pay taxes. There is no reason the NFL should be tax-exempt.

There is just so much that doesn't make sense within our government. A couple of years ago, I happen to read that the company GE paid no taxes because the wrote off some debt. They still made millions of dollars in profit that year but paid NO taxes. Loop holes give the big guys some real breaks. That is seriously crazy that an entity like the NFL is considered non-profit. How can they charge all that money for licensing rights and football tickets and still claim they aren't doing it to make money?

Yes but we have to remember those big luxurious stadiums with the fancy venues for the uber rich they had to build cost them a lot of money. Oh wait. I forgot the public got stuck for much of the cost of them also....;(
